Recently, Shunda Mining Group successfully won the bid for Chinalco (Rizhao) Mineral Resources Co., Ltd.'s "Crusher (Fine Crushing) for Simandu Iron Ore Crushing Processing (Rizhao Port) Project". The Simandou Iron Ore is a world-class large-scale high-quality open-pit hematite mine located in the Simandou Mountains in southeastern Guinea, West Africa. It is the undeveloped iron ore with the largest reserves and the highest quality in the world. It is divided into two major blocks, the north and the south. The resource amount has been identified to exceed 2 billion tons, and the total amount is expected to reach 10 billion tons. The initial annual production capacity of the project is 120 million tons, and may reach 150 million tons in the future.
The mining of Simandou iron ore will significantly increase the global supply of iron ore, reshape the international iron ore market pattern, and further promote China's layout in the global mining field. It means that China's steel industry will no longer be "stuck" by international iron ore prices.
